Paperless Direct Debit Script for telephone sign up

In order to be able to sign people up for Direct Debit by taking their details over the phone you will need to stick to a script to ensure that you obtain and give all of the correct information.

The script will require the following steps:-

1. Verify that they are account holder and payer

2. Take bank details

3. Confirm they are only person required to authorise

4. Advise the advance notice period

5. Confirm back bank details

6. Explain the Direct Debit Guarantee

7. Advise company name that will appear on statement

Once you have designed a script for your organisation it will still need to be signed off by your sponsoring bank as is the case with all communications that you use for Direct Debit. Your sponsoring bank will check that your script is correct and confirm that it complies with the Direct Debit rules.
